Our Story

I am a passionate creator and explorer hailing from Villa Juarez, Sonora, Mexico. Since childhood, I’ve been drawn to the extraordinary—those moments and crafts that defy the ordinary. Growing up in a hardworking family in the agricultural field, I cherish my roots and traditions, especially the vibrant culture of my people.

In 1996, I graduated from ITESM Tec de Monterrey Mexico with a bachelor’s degree in international business, and that’s when my adventure truly began. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working in various successful businesses and trades. However, one endeavor stands out: supporting and promoting the exquisite art crafted by Mexican artisans across diverse categories—ceramics, metal working, wood working, backstrap loom weaving, leather working among many others. These talented artisans create wonders that resonate with tradition and heritage, passed down through generations.

And so, Tenku Designs was born—a manifestation of dreams without bounds. “Tenku” translates to “dreams” in the indigenous Yaqui tribe dialect, paying homage to my hometown, Ciudad Obregón, Sonora.

Our mission? To infuse love and passion into every piece we create. From handcrafted leather accessories to bespoke apparel, each item tells a story—a narrative of tradition and resilience.

But life isn’t without its challenges. In 2009, my son Ian entered the world. At just two and a half years old, he was diagnosed with autism. Ian transformed me—made me playful, positive, and more creative than ever. Tenku Designs now carries a purpose beyond aesthetics: a commitment to allocate a portion of profits to support autism programs.

In 2015, I faced another battle—diagnosed with invasive breast cancer. Yet here I am in 2024, living with excitement for what lies ahead. I continue the fight, dedicating myself to being the best mother, daughter, sister, and friend. And above all, I advocate tirelessly for Mexican artisans—the heartbeat of our cultural heritage.
